Embroidery is becoming an increasingly popular way to decorate shirts - especially on small runs of multicolor designs. The big advantage to embroidery - besides the more professional look - is the ease of set up. For companies who are going to want a full color logo on less than 12 shirts, embroidery is often the way to go.
All designs that are to be embroidered first need to be digitized. Essentially this means that someone needs to write a mini-program for the computer that will tell the embroidery machine how and where to put each stitch. The first time digitizing costs can run $75 - $100 for a standard logo. But remember, you only pay this the first time!
The digitized logo is the loaded in to the embroidery machine and colors are assigned to each needle. Embroidered logos can have up to 10 different colors without increasing the cost. A sample sew out is done on a piece of sample fabric for customer approval. Each garment is then hooped individually and loaded onto the machine. The design is then embroidered onto the garment. Our machines are capable of up to 800 stitches per minute !
Pricing on embroidered garments is based on the number of stitches in your design. An average left chest design has 7,500 - 9,000 stitches, although some have as few as 2,000. A full jacket back can have as many as 50,000 or more!
